Summary/Objective

The Hospice Volunteer Outreach Coordinator is primarily responsible for strengthening relationships with the public to ensure referalls, visibility and program awareness.

Essential Functions

• 
  Plans and Implements the volunteer program and volunteer orientation.
• Establishes recruitment and retention methods to enhance and maintain the program. Coordinates and participates in training programs, continuing education and support groups for volunteers.
• Maintains records and personnel files on all volunteer staff. Submits department reports in a timely manner. Maintains communication with volunteers; keeps volunteers informed.
• Assesses the volunteer program processes and implements changes to facilitate growth and improvement. Develops and maintains volunteer policies and procedures
• Assists with volunteer program budget planning and operates within budget
• Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and patient care conferences. Encourages volunteers to attend as needed. Participates in problem solving discussions.
• Assists in planning and executing special events.
• Identifies and utilizes appropriate in-house experts who may speak with the media on specific, current health-related topics.
• Provides information to the community and employers on a regular basis about the programs and services of the organization.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in volunteer coordination outreach preferred
