Description

JSI is seeking a consultant to support planning for the Child Health Task Force virtual conference June 6-7, 2023. The Child Health Task Force is a global network of implementing organizations; NGOs; academic institutions; UN, multilateral, and bilateral agencies; in-country partners; and individuals working together to support the delivery of high quality child health services. The network now includes over 3500 members from 90 countries and 900 organizations. We convene and coordinate stakeholders to share knowledge and innovative solutions to programmatic issues. We develop new and improve existing tools and we work with country partners to translate evidence into stronger child health programs, enabling children to survive and thrive. The Task Force is managed by a Secretariat, led by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) with funding by USAID. The Secretariat gathers feedback from members through an annual survey; based on members’ feedback, the Secretariat decided to host a virtual conference to convene child health stakeholders around a common vision.

A Steering Committee provides the Task Force with support, guidance, and oversight. The Steering Committee consists of Aga Khan University-Pakistan, the Global Financing Facility/World Bank, JSI, Makerere University, the Malawi Ministry of Health, Save the Children, Total Family Health Organisation Ghana, UNICEF, USAID, and WHO. The Steering Committee approved the initial virtual conference concept note. The Secretariat formed a conference planning committee of a select group among the subgroup co-chairs to shape the vision for the conference, review abstracts, and provide technical inputs. The group meets bi-weekly. The conference will be fully virtual and hosted on an online mini-website/conference platform. It will include a combination of pre-recorded and live Zoom sessions, plenary opening and closing sessions with a keynote speaker, concurrent sessions organized around the three tracks, speed presentations/poster sessions, virtual booths for participating partners, and opportunities for networking (chat rooms, virtual coffee breaks, etc.). The conference platform and most sessions will be in both English and French with simultaneous interpretation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • develop a detailed gantt chart with tasks broken down and assigned responsibilities to meet the timeline outlined below
  • develop and/or make updates to the virtual conference webpage on the Child Health Task Force website

  • liaise with the production company to develop the virtual platform for participants
  • develop dissemination materials including communications with Task Force members and other partners around conference updates, reminders, etc.
  • develop the conference agenda and detailed run of show in collaboration with the conference planning committee and Secretariat
  • organize and disseminate conference background materials for each of the sessions/under each thematic track
  • organize and lead pre-conference prep calls
  • attend the virtual conference, support back-end logistics as needed, and take notes
  • develop a conference report to share with participants and the Steering Committee
