The Position: We are looking for a Unit Manager, who is willing to embrace McKinley’s mission and H.U.M.A.N values. The role of the Unit Manager is to oversee all operations of their assigned Unit to ensure adherence to policies, Title 22, contract requirements and accreditation standards.


Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $64,480 - $70,000 annually depending on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree
  • Two years of full-time experience (as a paid or volunteer), or its equivalent, working with the population to be served, or equivalent education or experience
  • Two years of experience as a social worker in a group home or STRTP
  • Word Processing, Email, internet, ability to learn clinical software, basic office skills (i.e. typing, telephone, copier)
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various sites on and off campus
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
  • Ability to physically restrain children (if needed)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all children in the Unit
  • Work in collaboration with the Resident Counselors to ensure proper coverage in the Unit to meet McKinley policy and Title 22 standards on child care to staff ratios
  • In collaboration with supervisor, HR and other departments, hire, supervise, train and evaluate all Residential Counselors in the Unit
  • Completion of all documentation as required
  • Monitor the living environment, assuring that care is nurturing and therapeutic and all legal requirements are met
  • Lead group meetings with residents as indicated
  • Oversee the administration of discipline and limit setting for behaviors
  • Work a flexible schedule and respond to emergencies as needed
  • Provide positive leadership; focus on the children and the effect all individual and team issues have on their treatment
  • Monitor Unit funds, operating within the budget in all areas
  • In collaboration with the treatment team, ensure proper upkeep of the cottage, including timely submission of maintenance requests
  • Liaison with families and county workers as indicated and school personnel within their role.
  • Inform clinicians of any issues that should be addressed in therapy sessions
  • Actively participate in therapeutic recreation with the residents
  • Attend all required agency training courses
  • As indicated, appropriately interact with children’s families and significant others in a therapeutic, non-judgmental manner
  • Serve as a role model in carrying out the mission of McKinley
  • Actively participate in the Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) process assigned
  • Other related duties as assigned
