Pay Range: $21.59-$27.70 Company Overview:

Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.

The Department of Pathology consists of disease-specific pathologists, molecular diagnosticians, and researchers with expertise in a range of solid tumor types as well as hematopathology. Our pathologists collaborate with other specialists to customize each patient’s treatment based on his or her individual diagnosis. Molecular Pathology and precision medicine are increasingly vital components of the work we do.
We are seeking a Triage Assistant who will provide clinical and administrative support of clinical and molecular ordering activity for the Molecular Diagnostic Services (Molecular Pathology, Molecular Genetics, and Cytogenetics).
You Will:
- Examine information on specimen containers and requisition to confirm identification
- Timestamps and deliver specimen requisition
- Retrieves specimens from the pneumatic tube and accurately triages between laboratory medicine and pathology
- Logs and packages all pathology specimens into appropriate specimen tote bags for pickup
- Helps with the return of submitted material to outside institutions
- Provides telephone coverage
- Performs assigned quality control procedures
- Retrieves and files microscopic slides and paraffin blocks accurately and maintains them in an organized manner
- Messenger specimens to laboratories located at different MSK sites
