  • Position Summary
    • This is a grant-funded position at the MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence.
    • The Tobacco Treatment and Prevention Educator will be an integral member of the MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence Training and Education team and will support both the treatment grant and the prevention grant to aid CTI’s mission to make our communities the healthiest in America through the reduction of commercial tobacco use through the provision of evidence based treatment, education, policy development and research.
    • This position assists in the development, implementation and delivery of virtual and in person trainings to support the needs of healthcare professionals and prevention partners throughout the state of Maine with the goal of improving access to high quality, best practice tobacco treatment. This position will provide technical assistance and capacity building regarding options for treatment protocols and collaborate and coordinate with partner organizations. The role will contribute to, develop and maintain tobacco related resources and materials to support program growth and development. In addition this position will provide trainings and workshops to community healthcare professionals, employers and schools.
    • This position has a hybrid schedule with ample opportunity for remote work!
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
    • License/Certifications: Training in counseling, behavioral health, public health, or tobacco treatment required. Comparable experience outside of tobacco specific knowledge is welcomed. Clinical license preferred. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
    • Experience: Understanding of the following areas: tobacco and other drug treatment; treatment of co-occurring disorders (mental health, substance use, and trauma); strategic planning; policy and systems change
    • Capability to develop and deliver trainings to a wide range of audiences including health professionals, prevention professionals, students and school staff.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and ability to conduct virtual trainings using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoToWebinar and other platforms as needed.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage training audiences, and develop relationships with community partners and organizations.
    • Ability to provide support to organizations, including schools, to strengthen the capacity to positively influence social norms regarding tobacco use and exposure.
    • Adaptability, flexibility, and problem solving skills necessary to meet the needs of the organization, training team and community partners.
