PRIMARY FUNCTION:
TK Youth Leaders work with members in grades TK-Kindergarten and sometimes 1st grade at the Boys & Girls Clubs Hansberger Clubhouse. Our TK Youth Leaders make a positive impact in a child’s life every single day. Youth Leaders are role models and mentors. Together with their team, they work to foster the 5 key elements to Boys & Girls Clubs: A Safe, Positive Environment, A Sense of Belonging, Fun, Opportunities and Expectations, and Recognition. Being a TK Youth Leader is meaningful work.

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintain a staff-to-member ratio of 1 staff to 10 members.

• Must be available to work between the hours of 6:30am – 4:30pm
• Driving the Club vans to transport youth to and from school.
• Motivate and encourage program participation with members.
• Provide homework/academic support.
• Provide a safe environment for members through active supervision, setting clear expectations and maintaining clean program areas.
• Create an engaging, positive, and developmentally appropriate environment for members.
• Provide constant, active supervision; implement and follow BGCGRR behavioral guidelines.
• Provide guidance, affirm positive behavior and act as a role model and mentor to members.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• High School diploma or GED
• Early Education knowledge is desired
• Child Development units
• Experience working with children (volunteer work counts)
• Knowledge of youth development stages.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to plan and implement quality activities for youth.
• Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.
• Candidates must be 18 years or older.
• Valid State Driver License and Current Auto Insurance
• Must clear Background checks, Drug Screen, & Employment Physical
• CPR & First Aid Certifications - required within 2 mos of hire date (we provide certification courses)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Physically able to work with children (capable of bending, squatting, twisting, and standing on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, carts, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and multi task. The job requires about 50% walking, 30% standing, and 20% sitting.

Note: This position will be in-person working at the Hansberger Clubhouse and providing transportation for youth. We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure our employees' safety.
