POSITION: Therapist
LOCATION: Miami, Broward, Treasure Coast and Palm Beach Florida
SCHEDULE: Non-Exempt
We are looking for an applicant who is willing to work with the youth/families at a time that suits the youth and family needs on a flexible schedule. This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position.
JOB OBJECTIVE:The Therapist is responsible for providing individual and family therapy sessions to assigned clients. Therapeutic services are provided in accordance with active prior authorization time frames, are consistent with eligibility criteria and are medical necessity.
FUNCTIONS:
Provides the highest quality of care to the clients served
Provides therapy services in accordance with Medicaid/funders, COA standards, agency policies and procedures, the Professional and Ethical guidelines of the respective field and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Provides treatment services either in the community (i.e.; home, school, etc.) and/or outpatient clinic as indicated on each client’s treatment plan
Demonstrates ability to connect, empathize, and show dedication to serving children, adolescents, young adults, and their families
Plans and administers therapeutic treatment in accordance with the client’s treatment plan and subsequent treatment plan reviews, using appropriate clinical intervention
Ensures client receives frequency of services as needed per his/her level of functioning
Maintains an excellent working knowledge of current practices of the profession, including but not limited to an extensive working knowledge of the current DSM edition
Provides a minimum of 12 client contact hours therapy sessions per week for a maximum of 29 hours per week
Ensures that documentation (to include but not be limited to progress notes, timesheets, treatment plan reviews, CFARS, FARS) is completed and submitted within given deadlines and in accordance with Medicaid/funders, COA standards, professional codes of ethics, internal policies and procedures, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulation
Completes documentation that is timely, accurate, thorough, individualized, and clinically sufficient for each client seen using agency approved forms and/or systems
Ensures/verifies that all appropriate consents and authorizations have been signed by client and/or legal guardian(s), as appropriate
Reviews progress towards treatment goals with clients and their families
Develops, implements and documents appropriate discharge planning with all clients
Fulfills mandatory obligations of reporting abuse and neglect and complies with agency policies and procedures regarding these instances
Maintains client confidentiality and the security of Protected Health Information (PHI)
Attends court hearings, with prior approval and when necessary
Performs all agency activities, job duties and responsibilities and related agency activities with respect and appreciation for the persons served, including the diversity of cultures, traditions, and practices
Performs other duties, as assigned
Experience and Skills:
Master Level Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Psychology. Must be eligible for or have State of Florida License or Registered Intern status. If not licensed or registered as an intern, must become registered within 90 days of hire date.
Experience providing therapy to children and/or adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues.
Knowledgeable in areas of child development, family functioning, child abuse and neglect and resistant clients.
Experience in collaborating with other disciplines and services.
Strong ability to effectively communicate information both orally and written in one-to-one and small group situations to clients and other employees.
Strong ability to listen and develop good rapport with clients.
Bilingual – English/Spanish or English/Creole preferred
Strong clinical thinking and therapeutic knowledge, experience providing individual/group/family counseling
Valid FL Driver’s License required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle with passengers
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to complete word processing tasks including responding to e-mails and completing computerized documentation
Ability to walk up and down stairs inside/outside
