Central Regional Hospital

We are currently recruiting for a Health Care Technician II that will function as a Therapeutic Support Specialist II (TSS II) at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) located on the Forensic Evaluation & Admission (FEA) area of the Screening & Admission Unit (SAU). This postion is required to collaborate with the Forensic Evaluators and Forensic team in addition to SAU staff.

The position will perform all patient management and office tasks necessary to process forensic referrals, screenings, outpatient appointments, admissions, and patient movements within the hospital. Some duties include searching and inventorying patients and their property, obtaining vital signs, ensuring patient is medically and psychiatrically stable, understanding and reviewing legal commitment documents, putting charts together, looking up information in data bases and entering data into the computer. Covering for SAU is required.

The normal work hours for this position is 7:30am-4:00pm, including alternating weekends and holidays as scheduled. This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess work experience that demonstrates all of the following:

Two years experience working with psychiatric patients
Current NAI certification
Must have knowledge of forensic court orders and working with legal system for outpatient appointments.
Ability to use computer, fax machine, and copy machine.
Must have outstanding customer service and telephone etiquette.
Must be able to obtain notary within one year.


ADA Physical Requirements will be discussed in detail during interview but include: lifting, kneeling, walking up and down stairs, ability to perform CPR, NVCI, APT (applied physical technique) and lifting of 50 pounds.

Management prefers working knowledge of AFFINITY/HEARTS.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
