Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, Inc. (GLFHC) is a multi-site, mission-driven, non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to a culturally diverse population throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites in Lawrence, Methuen, and Haverhill and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.


GLFHC is seeking a temporary Vaccine Immunizer (COVID-19). Reporting to the Director of Clinical Community Based Services, the COVID-19 Immunizer provides support to Vaccine Ambassador Program by providing immunization of vaccinations to people experiencing homelessness (PEH), people with substance use disorders (PWSUD), and people who may engage in sex work (PESW). Participating in ambassador training programs, outreach and assistance unique sessions with the target populations. Monitoring through group meetings, individual calls, potential site visit, and quarterly report. This is a grant funded temporary position with an end date of July 31, 2023.


Job Responsibilities and Performance Standards:

  • Attend on site huddles and trainings
  • Report for schedule shifts on time and in a professional manner regard to behavior, telephone, courtesy dress, identification, and communication with patients, colleagues, and outside agencies. Adheres to organization’s attendance policy.
  • Must be able to don appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Use two patient identifiers to identify when providing patient care.
  • Is aware and follows OSHA standards, including those for Blood Borne Pathogens, at all times. Identifies potential safety hazards and take action to remedy these situations.
  • Obtain/ensure consent for vaccination is obtained
  • Confirm the patient’s eligibility for vaccination per guidelines and answer any questions they have concerning the vaccine
  • Administer COVID-19, flu and other vaccines according to standardized protocol
  • Provide vaccination card to patient
  • Provide to patient with the Vaccine Information Statement
  • Respond to patients queries and concerns; provide education and information on COVID-19 vaccine, as required
  • Complete documentation of vaccine administration in Electronic Health Record and/or MMIS and adhere to all documentation procedures.
  • Assist with vaccine station set up and shut down procedures according to protocol
  • Position will require travel to various vaccination sites.
  • Knowledgeable and respectful of the client’s privacy right, including but not limited to federal and state regulations and consistently observes HIPAA.
  • Performs all and any additional duties as assigned.
  • Travel between sites will be required

Education & Qualifications

  • Able to administer vaccinations in accordance with the State of Massachusetts
  • Current BLS/CPR
  • Experience vaccinating children aged 5 months and older.
  • Knowledge of clinical and cultural issues involved in the care of Latino, African American and gay, lesbian and transgender as well as those with substance abuse.
  • Strong clinical and assessment skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills, self-motivation, organization and flexibility; commitment to improve care in underserved population; collaborative work style; relationship building by meeting directly with patients, families and providers in various settings; high level of accountability, reliable transportation; computer skills.
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s license.
