Caladwich Consulting is looking for a technical writer for proposals to government agencies. Caladwich is an SBA certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), and SBA-certified 8(a) SB with extensive prime performance in Program Management, IT Services, Cybersecurity, Supply Chain, and Inventory Management. We have ISO and IT certifications that ensures excellence in our company operations and quality deliverables to our federal government clients to include Department of Veterans Affairs, Health and Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, Defense Health Agency, and Department of Defense.

The position requires strong technical writing skills, as a large portion of this position (~75%) will be spent drafting, composing, and editing compelling technical responses to government solicitations, information papers, and press releases. Additional responsibilities are heavily focused on research and development of proposals, including reading relevant government documentation. The position will report to the Director of Business Development and additionally assist in other BD activities as required.

This role requires a highly organized, proactive approach to tracking solicitation opportunities and working with a team to respond to them in a timely, compliant fashion. Position responsibilities require meticulous attention to detail, strong organization skills, and the willingness and ability to work collaboratively with a team to analyze project requirements and develop solutions.

3-5 years’ experience is preferred; however, any experience in defense consulting and aptitude towards requirements in this PD will be considered. The candidate should be a team player who is enthusiastically willing and able to learn how to be effective in the role. The position will require a hybrid position of in-person (Annandale VA) and remote. A shift to more remote delivery will be available as training and experience with Caladwich progresses; once fully proficient and adapted to duties, the candidate may have the option of primarily remote work and travel time as required to meet with clients, attend conferences, work on critical or classified projects.


  • 75% of time will be on proposal coordination to include writing, editing, research, and coordination with teaming partners.
  • 25% of time will be on opportunity management, company outreach, and coordination with multiple government stakeholders, drafting market research, social media content creation, technical editing, and other office management support.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Support concurrently running responses to federal government solicitations to include Request for Proposal (RFPs), Request for Quote (RFQs), Request for Information (RFIs), Market Research, and Task Order (TO) requests.
  • Utilize tools and websites to research and update company pipeline to include: Sam.Gov, eBuy, eFast,Gov.win(Deltek), Capture2Proposal, etc.
  • Analyze opportunities / create strategic solutioning approach.
  • Facilitate the proposal review process, guide production of compliant and compelling final drafts.
  • Work directly with Business Development Team leadership to vet opportunities, develop writing plan.
  • Analyze requirements and ensure proposals meet customer needs.
  • Solution, draft, edit, and polish solicitation responses, including creating templates and boilerplate text. * Write to strict deadlines.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, manage, and monitor corresponding proposal schedules, meetings, plans, deadlines, and progress.
  • Draft proposals and communicate across teams to get input and meet deadlines.
  • Create and maintain team documentation efforts for response process.
  • Ensure documents are logical, clean, and fundamentally appealing to evaluators.
  • Coordinate with and set schedules for partner teams throughout the proposal creation process.
  • Maintain and consistently update proposal repositories on MS SharePoint
  • Update proposal-related data in opportunity pipeline entries for assigned opportunities
  • Contribute to maintenance/continual improvement of Growth resources, including the Growth SharePoint portal, proposal reuse library, and past performance library.
  • Stay informed of proposal best practices and suggest process improvements as appropriate.
Requirements:


Requirements for Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of Federal proposal writing experience
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Proficient in MS Office to include Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams, and Excel
  • Communicate and collaborate transparently with leadership
  • Self-starter with ability to manage strict deadlines
  • Team Player with excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills

Preferred Candidates:

  • APMP certification or Shipley proposal management or writing training
  • Ability to develop basic graphics in PowerPoint

  • May be asked to provide examples of previous writing experience
  • Must be able to pass background investigations including a FBI fingerprint check and a National Agency Check with Inquires (NACI) adjudication.
