Responsible for the development, manufacture, repair, maintenance and evaluation of tooling (including mold and dies) for the plastics processing areas. Applies skills and dexterity in the development of engineering prototypes, supports the improvement of products and processes and new product development, in keeping with SOPs and applicable regulatory guidance.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to tooling/molds and related equipment, as required, including recording traceable information on device history records and may enter information into system (e.g., JDE, Maximo) as appropriate.

Manufacture and/or modify existing tooling/molds, fixtures and/or metal assemblies as required, using equipment such as manual and automated (Computational Numerical Control – CNC) bulk material removal machines (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, drills, electric discharge machines) and welding equipment (micro-welding).

Evaluate tooling/molds for product and process improvement or development.

Participate in product and tooling investigations for non-conformance issues as required.

Program, set up and operate all machines.

Collect and document test data.

On time arrival to work, regular attendance without excessive absenteeism, and working a full 8 hour or longer work period.

Other incidental duties: Maintain, clean and organize machinery, equipment, tools and working area; train and support other personnel on functions as required; perform other duties as required by supervisor/management; participate in lean six sigma continuous improvement activities as required.

Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree or equivalent in from Technical Institute with certification in Tool & Die making.

Three (3) years experience as a Tool & Die Maker or equivalent position in the plastic processing industry, preferably in a medical device environment, including the manufacture, modification of tooling/molds, fixtures and/or metal assemblies by making use of equipment such as manual and CNC bulk material removal machines (such as lathes, mills, grinders, drills, electric discharge machines) and welding equipment (micro-welding), required.

Availability to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends.

Additional Skills:
Basic metal working ability to build parts.

Experienced in performing preventive and corrective maintenance to tooling/molds and related equipment.

Experienced in good documentation practices.

Able to read and comprehend English sufficiently to utilize computer-based systems.

Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, accurate decision making environment, in a team environment, and with minimum supervision by following detailed manufacturing instructions.

Adhere to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety and Quality guidelines as they relate to department clean room medical device manufacturing.

Able to read, comprehend and speak English sufficiently to utilize computer-based systems.

Basic computer skills.

Good communication skills.

Strict attention to detail.

Must be able to work in a team environment, including inter-departmental teams.

Ability to provide feedback in a professional, direct, and tactful manner.

Accountable to adhere to applicable Edwards Environmental, Health and Safety and Quality System requirements to ensure our products and services consistently meet customer and regulatory.

Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control.

Ensure proper handling, storage and disposal of all waste generated in the facility according to applicable laws within the waste management program (RCRA). Prepare regulatory and/or internal reports, complete waste determinations, sign waste manifests and coordinate proper training sessions to affected personnel.
