Responsibilities:

The Tax Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Tax Department, which has responsibility for income, franchise/net worth, property, and sales/use taxes. The position reports directly to the CFO and will supervise two (2) employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Work directly with the CFO on developing and implementing tax planning strategies, including identification of exposures and opportunities.
Lead and manage federal, state and local tax authority audits (income, sales/use, and property).
Regularly monitor federal, state and local law changes that may impact the Company. (Perform additional research, as needed, on the law changes).
Point-of-contact for tax related questions from within the organization, performing research as needed. Point-of-contact for financial statement auditors for tax matters.
Prepare periodic updates to effective tax rate and maintain projections of cash tax payments.
Manage preparation of year-end tax provision (US GAAP and IFRS), including tax footnote disclosure for annual report and tax related schedules required by foreign parent for quarterly and annual reporting.
Maintain the uncertain tax position reserve analysis (income and non-income taxes) along with proper supporting documentation.
Review federal and state quarterly estimated payments, ensuring payments are cash efficient but adequate to avoid underpayment interest/penalties.
Review and supervise the preparation of the federal and state income/franchise tax returns. Research issues as needed, assisting in preparation of more complex book to tax adjustments, and documenting key items and issues.
Review and supervise the preparation of the annual reports.
Review and supervise the preparation of the property tax returns.
Review and supervise the preparation of Forms 1042 and 1120F.
Review of payments to foreign vendors to ensure compliance with US tax withholding obligations.
Respond to tax related inquiries from foreign parent companies.
Special projects as they arise.

Qualifications

BS in Accounting; CPA or Masters in Taxation required.
8 - 10 years of experience with 3-4 years in public accounting is preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Detail oriented but also able to see and understand the “big picture".
Experience with a large, multi-state manufacturing consolidated group.
Familiarity with the preparation of year-end tax provision calculations, related footnote disclosures, and effective tax rate updates.
Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks/projects.
