PRIVATE SWIM INSTRUCTOR – We will train you!
Part Time
The Fond du Lac Family YMCA is hiring swim instructors to provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for participants in private lessons and to positively model and reinforce the YMCA’s core values and mission statement while providing a safe, welcoming environment where members and guests of all ages, cultures, and abilities can learn how to swim.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructs private swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
- Builds relationships with students and parents, helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Conveys information on aquatics programs and scheduled and as appropriate, refers students and parents to other programs.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area
- Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code Attends staff meetings and in-service training
REQUIREMENTS:
- No previous experience required
- Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, current Red Cross Lifeguard or equivalent preferred
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques
- Ability to lift equipment and to lift a small to average sized child
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards
WAGE SCALE: $11/hr
WORK DAYS: FLEXIBLE HOURS; SET YOUR SCHEDULE
