Supplier Relations Water Treatment Engineer I

The Water Treatment Engineer’s role is to work closely with internal manufacturing plant teams and water treatment suppliers under the direct supervision of the Senior Water Treatment Engineer to manage Niagara’s chemical programs and supplier’s performance. Under direct supervision, they are responsible for reviewing and compiling water treatment data and reports to provide insightful feedback to key stakeholders. This position will successfully crosslink Niagara’s objectives and supplier capabilities to drive improvement initiatives.

Detailed Summary

  • Demonstrate general technical and water treatment chemistry knowledge
  • Become a subject matter expert to consult and guide Niagara teams in all things water treatment
  • Monitoring data on water treatment equipment include, but is not limited to:
    • Water purification systems: Reverse Osmosis Units, Ultra Filtration Units, Carbon Towers, Distillers, Boilers
    • Cooling loops: Cooling Towers, Closed Circuit cooling loops
    • Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) for waste water
  • Water Treatment Performance Management
    • Monitor and manage water treatment supplier performance and adherence to Niagara established metrics and KPIs
    • Review and monitor water treatment parameters, water management program for legionella, boiler inspections reports, corrosion coupons data and water treatment total cost of ownership
    • Summarize and execute water treatment monthly metric reports and quarterly dashboards with respective action plan on open items
    • Lead troubleshooting for issues that arise in performance from the assets listed above
  • Water Treatment Supplier Management
    • Compile and track suppliers performance and action items at each plant and assist with prompt completion
    • Participate and support the senior engineer in quarterly supplier review meetings
    • Participate and support the supplier selection process for new plants
  • New Manufacturing Plant Startup Support
    • Onsite support for water treatment asset and program installation verification and documentation
    • Review commissioning and passivation reports for new assets
  • Support the senior engineer on continuous improvement initiatives and projects
    • Determine ROI of potential saving projects
    • Oversee the execution of water and chemical saving projects with the support of our engineering team
    • Identify and communicate discrepancies between design and actual operation
    • Evaluate and optimize equipment design to include improvements in future RFPs
  • Review and optimize tasks or documentation as needed
  • Assist senior engineer with additional duties as assigned
  • Water treatment engineer I is estimated to travel <35%

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • 2 Years – Experience in Field or similar manufacturing environment
    • 2 Years – Experience in Position
    • 2 Years – Experience managing people/projects

Education

  • Minimum Required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in science, Engineering Degree
  • Preferred:
    • Master's Degree in Science, Chemicals, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
