Supplier Diversity and Community Engagement Coordinator Job at The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia

Reporting to and working closely with the Director, Supplier Diversity in Procurement and Supplier Diversity Services (PSDS) the Supplier Diversity and Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for engagement with diverse suppliers, university staff, the local community, advocacy groups, government agencies and other interested parties.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Outreach and engagement:

  • Cultivate and promote positive relationships with diverse suppliers, university staff, local community, and advocacy groups,
  • Lead small and diverse supplier outreach, build connections, and act as supplier coach and advocate.
  • Serve as the university representative on the VASCUPP Supplier Diversity Advisory Committee
  • Oversee and conduct outreach to agencies, organizations, partners, and stakeholders. Manage and coordinate invitations and scheduling.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with diverse suppliers, community partners, stakeholders, and university leadership
  • Coordinate events with members and community partners as needed.
  • Establish and mage Supplier Diversity Champions cohort across Grounds.
  • Collaborate with Finance Communications staff to create marketing and messaging materials to include pamphlets, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Work with web team to update supplier diversity information on the PSDS website.

Collaboration:

  • Quickly assess and analyze complex and challenging issues and communicate information and actions needed in a timely and responsive manner.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, tact and diplomacy while representing the PSDS in meetings, through written correspondence, and other official roles.

Reporting:

  • Assist with the preparation of various reports including summaries of outreach activities, and lead efforts to disseminate diversity spend data at the university, college, and departmental levels.

Additional Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree from an accredited institution preferred
  • Knowledge of university, community, government, and advocacy groups diverse supplier resources and trends in the field.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Understanding of procurement, supplier management, and sourcing
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to attend functions/activities outside normal business hours.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion
  • Ability to travel minimally for conferences, supplier meetings, and community events

Reports to: Director, Supplier Diversity.

Location: A minimum of three days each week on-Grounds in Charlottesville.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
