Purpose and Scope
The Supervisor of Production will maintain and oversee the work selection process for operating personnel.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Setup and maintain all elements of the work/vacation selection process within picking and related systems.
  • Update websites with relevant information and materials in preparation of each pick.
  • Coordinate the delivery of operator messaging related to work/vacation selection.
  • Troubleshoot issues with area personnel and serve as the liaison between Operations and IT to resolve work selection issues.
  • Assist and advise the Schedules department in preparation of staffing levels and projecting pick timelines.
  • Continually maintain workforce projections by gathering data from staffing resource dashboards and working directly with Workforce Planning and Training departments for new hire and training progress.
  • Generate and validate pre-pick and post-pick reports to support all operational needs.
  • Prepare interface files for various down-stream systems.
  • Establish the yearly calendar, including rating dates and holiday schedules.
  • Lead and prepare materials for the pick overview meetings.
  • Make recommendations for problem resolution and enhancements and coordinate improvements with the Information Technology Department (ITD).
  • Learn, train, and assist with the implementation of work selection management software, such as HASTUS Bid/BidWeb and system upgrades.
  • Establish an effective interface between management and employees, and when necessary, with union representatives.
  • Work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed.
  • Respond to each inquiry, whether for a customer, vendor, or co-worker in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Uphold the rights and interests of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with employees.
  • Assist in the management of a workforce by ensuring the fair and consistent application and strict adherence to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the Authority including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies.
  • Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Education


  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Logistic, Computer Science, Public Administration, Information Technology or a related field.

Minimum Experience and Required Skills
  • Five (5) years of experience in bus or subway transit operations.
  • One (1) year of related supervisory experience in bus or subway transit operations.
  • Ability to pass a brief assessment, measuring attention to detail and error spotting in sets of data.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, confidentiality, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, PeopleSoft, Power Point or Main Frame applications.
  • The ability to provide internal and external customers with a courteous and professional experience.
  • Work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • Be available to work twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.
  • The ability to supervise and work effectively with a diverse workforce.

Substitutions Include

  • An Associate's degree from an accredited institution and an additional two (2) years of experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree requirement.
  • A High School Diploma or GED and an additional seven (7) years of work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
