CAMBA’s Violence Prevention and Intervention Services (VPIS) serve victims of violent crimes, domestic violence, sexual assault and/or those affected by violence. VPIS provides clients with assistance in processing Crime Victims Board Compensation Claims; individual and group counseling; support groups, housing assistance, emergency assistance, advocacy, information and referral services; and access to a Brooklyn-based 24-hour (7-day a week) rape crisis counseling hotline. Utilizing a family-centered and strength-based approach, teens, adults, seniors, immigrant women and their families affected by violence or facing potentially violent situations can also access a broad range of violence intervention, prevention and education services where they will demonstrate the ability to recognize, diffuse, and/or avoid violent situations.

What The Supervisor Does:

  • Provide individual counseling to victims of crime including domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Conduct mental health assessments and intake.
  • Assist with NYS Office of Victim Services Compensation claim forms and advocate on behalf of clients who have suffered financial loss or incurred medical expenses.
  • Provide follow up contacts and information/referrals for other services needed to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes.
  • Facilitate a weekly support group for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Maintain case files and all necessary documentation in a neat, clear and concise manner.
  • Monitor participants’ progress regularly and milestones reached.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, direct reporting staff, peers, supervisors, and funders.
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers for CAMBA Rape Crisis Hotline.
  • Motivate, coach and provide clinical supervision to direct reporting staff encouraging excellence.
  • Improve teamwork among direct reporting staff as well as among peers.
  • Facilitate monthly team meetings.
  • Troubleshoot client and direct reporting staff program problems, and make decisions in accordance with program policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Work with direct reporting staff to enhance their work performance through client feedback, training, and other appropriate mechanisms.
  • Assist staff and clients to overcome resistance to change
  • Review all documentation related to clients' progress for accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
  • Participate in administrative and staff meetings as requested
  • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/semester/annual reports to CAMBA management and/or to funders.
  • Monitor clients' progress to ensure program outcomes are achieved.
  • Administer constructive discipline to direct reporting staff, as needed.
  • Manage own time effectively and coordinates program activities to maximize time of direct reporting staff.
  • May review and sign timesheets.
  • May prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff.
  • May prepare marketing materials for the program.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Licensed Master’s Degree of Social Work (LMSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor and two years of applicable experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • NYS Department of Health Rape Crisis Certification.
  • Two years supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working with victims of crime including domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Experience working with diverse ethnic and cultural communities.
  • Outstanding organizational, critical thinking and writing skills.
  • Proven ability to serve as a dynamic team leader.
  • Enthusiasm; creativity; initiative; and the ability adapt quickly to change.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Compensation: $62,000-$66,000 annually
Status: Full-Time (35 hours per week), some flexibility with hybrid schedule of office and remote work.
