Position Summary:

The Summer Housing Assistant (SHA) is a student member of the Department of Residence Life. Summer Housing Assistants serve as a resource for summer student housing and summer guest housing. The Summer Housing Assistant will assist with preparation of guest spaces, check-ins and check-outs,serving in an on-call rotation, and providing student and guest services. Summer Housing Assistants are Campus Security Authorities and Authorized Adults. The position carries part-time, live-in responsibilities with appointments made on a yearly basis. Summer Housing Assistant compensation is $13.03/hr wage and room waiver. The Summer Housing Assistant is required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. This position offers the opportunity for employment up to 40 hours per week from May 8, 2023 to August 13, 2023.

Duties:

100- Live in assigned building and provide staffing and coverage for all university housing units. - Plan activities for summer student residents and refer students to appropriate campus resources. - Assist with check-ins and check-outs of conference guests and summer students. - Distribute and collect linens and provide other services for guests. - Prepare rooms for students and guests, including room inspections and light housekeeping when needed. - Provide customer service and complete administrative duties at assigned desk shifts. - Serve on a rotating duty schedule.   • Ability to work a minimum of 3 week nights starting at 7:00pm and ending at 8:00am as well as all-day weekend hours on a rotating basis.

  • Typical Experience:
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Applicants must have unrestricted employment authorization in the United States.
    • Applicants must complete all UAF employee Required Training (including Safety training, Title IX, Protection of minors, Campus Security Authority, and FERPA) within two weeks of their hire date.
    • At the time of hire, applicants must have applied for housing through the Department of Residence Life.


    Required Education or Training:

    Must be a full-time student at UAF (12 undergraduate credits / 9 graduate credits).
    All applicants will have their university student conduct record reviewed, and this review will be taken into consideration during the application/interview process.
    Must be available to work for the duration of the SHA contract period. Contract dates are subject to change.



    Salary Information:

    This is a Student Assistant position. Summer Housing Assistant compensation is $13.03/hr wage and room waiver.
