Northlands Job Corps is looking for energetic and motivated substitute teachers to work with students in academic classes. Hours are Monday - Friday. We are seeking for substitutes on an on-call, long term, all year around basis. This position does not qualify for employer sponsored benefits.

In this role, the substitute instructor provides academic instruction to students in accordance with approved curriculum and promotes student achievement.


Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the academic team or career trade team in the absence of the regular Instructor.
  • Develops and prepares lesson plans; administers and corrects tests.
  • Coordinates with independent living advisors, counselors and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
  • Models appropriate behaviors, mentors student and monitors both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Responsible for providing academic instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula.
  • Provide students with basic direction, in compliance with government and management directives.
  • Adhere to and promote Core Values and Career Success standards through modeling, mentoring and monitoring.
  • Deliver lesson plans that provide students with basic direction, instruction, and assistance in designated area(s) of instruction.
  • Motivate and counsel students in the areas of behavior, training, personal concerns and coordinate with other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
  • Maintain records, cleanliness, and classroom discipline.
  • Participate in student activities associated with intellectual and social development of students that help promote employability.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices; attend all required staff training.


Education & Experience:

  • Associates degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Salary Range: Starting at $22.00/hour
