The Student Student Success Coach is a full-time position that contributes to the nursing and health science success initiative that enables the college and its acdemic program(s) to improve student retention and population goals, persistence, licensure pass rates, and program outcome metrics.

1. At the start of each term, oversees intake, registration and assessments and presents a comprehensive orientation program to motivate and engage and current .

2. Assists students with setting goals and identifying, planning for, and overcoming potential obstacles and defining steps in education and career planning; builds rapport and trust with students to support successful goal completion; monitors student progress toward goals; conducts follow up with program participants; offers advisement as needed.

3. Provides support and coaching for personal, career, and academic matters through ongoing advising including working with students to develop individual success plans. Coordinates student referrals and resources to help overcome social and economic barriers.

4. Monitors and reports assessment scores and attendance by collecting data on achievement in the classroom (progression, ATI Pulse reporting, etc.) and attendance through Campus Vue and ABHES retention tools. This will be a part of student success initiatives to increase retention and persistence.

5. Maintains advising log or case management files to track contact hours, issues, and outcomes of advising sessions and student portfolios with appropriate documentation.

6. Serves as a resource person to faculty, staff, and students on academic issues. Works as a liaison to the Director of Education and the Campus President to help develop strategies to increase graduation and retention rates. Support instructors and program efforts to infuse instruction with persistence and success strategies.

7. Works with Director of Career Services to develop and present workshops, or seminars on career and/or college readiness and skills; develops relationships with college and clinical providers to stay abreast of community needs and college programs to provide students with up-to-date and accurate information.

8. Establishes and maintains effective working partnerships with key community/business stakeholders.

9. Performs outreach to community organizations, workforce centers, and businesses to present information and materials for student recruitment and assist with student placement.

10. Participates in other campus activities, committees, and projects as needed and performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

● Effective communication and listening skills.

● Capacity or desire to work with students of diverse backgrounds

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team

● Customer service focused, detail and goal oriented

● Strong organizational and cross-functional management skills.

● Microsoft Office.

EXPERIENCE:

● Higher education and/or technical training experience.

● 2 years of experience providing instruction or advising to college and adult learners.

● Background in social work or nursing preferred

● An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

EDUCATION: Associates or Bachelor’s degree Nursing or Psychology, or Social Work (Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing Education Preferred).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $27.78 per hour
