  • With individual students, the coach will be a coach, mentor, and support person who meets with them regularly to discuss any issues, help them to navigate changes, and make sure they are making progress.
  • The coach will also form a relationship with parents and provide updates, share concerns, and ensure all adults are providing the best support possible.
  • Within the Club, the coach will ensure students are able to overcome barriers to working independently and within groups to achieve outcomes.
  • The coach will support the after school staff in identifying and implementing strategies and activities that will help the individual student.
  • Within Moving Families Forward, the coach will work as part of the team to share updates, identify best practices, and develop and add to our growing understanding of the best ways we can help families and students achieve progress.

Essential Skills necessary:

  • Promote social service and educational programs to all BGCB participants and Bangor Housing residents.
  • Assist in recruitment of Moving Families Forward program participants.
  • Utilize interviewing and coaching skills to identify needs/barriers toward obtaining student success/achievement.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching services to BGCB/Moving Families Forward program participants, regarding setting and achieving goals, meeting key program targets, and overcoming barriers.
  • Be knowledgeable of available social services/resources in the community.
  • Refer participants to appropriate social services/resources that will enable them to work toward their goals, following up as needed.
  • Facilitate classes, workshops, and support groups, to increase students’ skills related to emotional, academic and workforce competencies.
  • Maintain ongoing contact to monitor progress toward their goals using Individual Achievement Plan
  • Document the progress of participants.
  • Maintain accurate case files and confidentiality.
  • Maintain records, data, and information.
  • Attend relative training programs.
  • Prepare and distribute newsletters or communications.
  • Maintain an understanding of Boys & Girls Club policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Be an active participant with other related community organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,500.00 - $48,000.00 per year
