Structural Steel Foreman – Traveling

Compensation: $27 and Up Depending on Experience

Description: We are looking for a Structural Steel Foreman to join our team as leader in the field who will coordinate and labor alongside their crew to erect steel structures. Work collaboratively with Project Managers to coordinate construction efforts that continue to drive improvements. Be a part of a team that prioritizes safety, and doing it right the first time.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Ability to lead a crew to erect columns, beams, bar-joist, decking, and other misc—steel items by steel field erection drawings and without supervision.
  • Valid driver's license

Job duties will include:

  • Supervises field crew members / directs work
  • Operate & supervise the operation of equipment such as Boom lifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, etc.
  • Perform inspections on rigging equipment.
  • Perform and supervise rigging procedures
  • Welding in the field
  • Work weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Exhibit positive, cooperative, courteous behavior with customers and co-workers
  • Direct workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment
  • Provide technical and consulting support
  • Complete required paperwork (Time Sheets, Daily Logs, etc.)
  • Maintain OSHA safety standards

Employment Standards:

  • Proficient Rigging Preferred.
  • Ability to learn and perform rigging and safety and company work procedures.
  • Majority of work within the Southeast United States
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Planning, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and squat. Have full range of motion.
  • Ability to lift up to 45lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to operate hand tools.
  • Ability to drive heavy machinery (fork lifts, telehandlers, scissor lift, etc.)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, promote and execute safe work practices.
  • Work with management personnel on project planning.
  • Delegation of tasks to crew members.
  • Perform the work within the constraints of the budget and schedule.
  • Train crew members to develop their trade knowledge and skills.
  • Troubleshoot problems and work towards solutions.
  • Provide weekly look ahead for management team

Job Requirements:

  • Work side-by side with the crew on the various tasks.
  • Take ownership of the project. Be the first one on the job and the last one to leave.
  • Set a high standard for safety and quality. Expect everyone to meet that standard.
  • Meet project deadlines by working smart and productively.
  • Have a superb ability to read prints and details and communicate those concepts to the crew.

Experience:

  • Structural Steel Erection: 5 years preferred

Benefits:

  • Company provides $30 per diem per day
  • Housing provided separate from per diem
  • Paid for travel time
  • Work week consists of 40-50hrs per week
  • Overtime is the standard
