Scope of Responsibility:

Responsible for creating 3D Models and detailed drawings for steel tubular utility structures from basic to intermediate complex designs while adhering to project schedules and quality standards.

Essential Duties:

Drafting/Detailing: 85%

  • Responsible to create accurate 3D models & fabrication drawings of steel transmission and utility structures, with increasing complexity, while maintaining department KPI’s.
  • Create and manage detailed fabrication and construction drawings through the completion of the design and manufacturing stages, including erection details and hardware, sub-assemblies, fabrication prints, and Bill of Materials (BOM) per engineering design.
  • Working independently or with the support and guidance of senior staff, adhere to the project schedules as defined by the Drafting Schedule, ensuring on-time completion and delivery of all drawings and applicable supporting documents.
  • Utilizing and understanding the Sabre Tubular Structures (STS) Drafting Standards, STS Engineering information, manufacturing parameters, and customer’s technical specifications to create/check drawings and handle structure complexity knowledge.
  • Utilizing all automation plugins to create/check drawings and Creating part numbers for standard and custom parts.
  • Manage drawing revisions to correct drafting errors, support more efficient production, or as required to meet procurement, production, or construction requirements.

Quality Improvement: 15%

  • Participate in the suggestion and implementation of new methods and corrective actions to identify opportunities of improvement of drafting process, tools, and drawings to meet department KPI’s as defined by management.
  • Support and participate in the Root Cause Analysis, with support of senior staff, on drawing and process errors in line with quality standards as established by department goals and objectives.
  • Maintain records of personal revisions for non-quality / errors to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience and knowledge of basic drafting, detailing and 3D CAD principles.
  • Strong mathematic ability, solving trig and algebraic equations.
  • Familiarity with steel and weld detailing is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, experience in AutoCAD 2016+ or Inventor 2019+ preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering documents including but not limited to technical procedures, drawings, and specifications.
  • Associate Degree in Drafting, or equivalent certificate, or a Degree in related science major

or 1-3 years’ experience in a drafting roll in lieu of degree/certification.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently w/ minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills required for a fast-paced environment.
  • Structural Drafter I 0-4 years’ experience.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.
  • Ability to work overtime when as required.

Physical Requirements:

· Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities.

· Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed.

· Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching. Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials.

· Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.

· Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.

· Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing as well as answer telephones and greet customers
