Job Description


We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team in the development of scalable and complex scientific information systems and data solutions. The candidate will have a strong background in Apache NiFi, Python (machine learning, natural language processing and web services), JavaScript (back end development), and NoSQL databases. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have experience working with scientific data in biology and chemistry domains. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team and will have a strong desire to learn and stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends in software engineering.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop NiFi custom processors, build and manage cross-environment deployment of large scale NiFi pipelines, maintain and periodically upgrade NiFi systems.
  • Develop data processing, machine learning and natural language processing models in Python and deploy them through web services.
  • Develop reusable JavaScript libraries for data transformation and validation.
  • Work with MarkLogic NoSQL database to manage data in JSON, XML, and binary formats.

Job Requirements


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree +3 years or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong experience with NiFi custom development, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Strong experience with Python for machine learning, natural language processing and web services).
  • Strong experience with JavaScript for backend development.
  • Strong experience with NoSQL databases preferably MarkLogic.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git and GitLab.
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) tools and processes.
  • Experience working with scientific data in biology and chemistry domains.
  • Working knowledge of common data formats, languages, and transforms such as XML, XPATH, XSLT, JSON, JPATH, AVRO, CSV, and HTML.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
