Garrett Advancing Motion seeks to hire in Plymouth, MI a Sr. NPI Buyer who will be responsible for ensuring all components are purchased and launched at the suppliers respecting Cost, Timing Targets, Quality and Capacity.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in a customer team setting, interfacing with program management, sales, engineering, design, quality, and manufacturing.
• Take leadership for all Purchasing activities for the project and ensure actions from support functions are completed on time for complete Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Interface with commodity managers to identify potential suppliers and commence supplier selection process and audits as appropriate.
• Track all cost changes and initiate/participate in reduction activities to stay below price target. Identify cost save ideas throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure APQP Process is deployed all along development.
• Maintaining performance metrics and tracking sheets for NPI activities.
• Organize and Lead Sourcing Committee activity (RFQ, Should Cost, APQP, Functional alignments, etc.).
• Conduct tooling capacity analysis on New Product to ensure the supplier’s production proposition can meet demand requirements.
• Consolidate and work within budget for all external investments including development/tooling etc. for all new components within the project.
• Achievement of Cost, PPAP Approval and SOP targets.
• Support the development and implementation of processes to enhance the overall efficiency of New Product Introductions.
• Coordinate prototype strategy to support timely supply of development components.
• Coordinate Product Launch Supplier Quality Engineer activity for all new components.
• Ensuring early production suppliers’ nomination and Concurrent Engineering deployment.
• Ensure component parts available for manufacturing plant builds prior to Start of Production (SOP). Ensure pipeline of components established for SOP.
• Place purchase requisitions for tooling, trial, PPAP, and Scheduling Agreements with production intent suppliers.
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 5 years of purchasing, supply chain or materials management experience.

Additional Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business.
• Ability to read blueprints, interpret drawing and specification requirements
• Demonstrated purchasing background in manufacturing and/or engineering field.
• Successful track record of effective communications within and across internal functional groups, various management levels and suppliers in an international environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Experienced in matrix organization.
• Demonstrated commitment to the requirements of the position.
• Direct hands-on experience with SAP.
