SENIOR MANAGER SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER

THE ROLE:
AMD seeks a passionate, collaborative leader with strong technical skills and the initiative to motivate an expert team. You will manage a Silicon Engineering group and innovate with internal teams and external partners to create the next generation of computing technologies.

We, Video HW IP/Solution Group at AMD, are looking for a Sr. MANAGER who will take on challenges to drive a newly formed architecture modeling solution team.

THE PERSON:
The candidate will report to the Video IP director and lead the team to primarily work with global VCN managers, domain owner and architects. The team will mainly focus on developing competitive architecture solution on video codec IP, competitive improvement, feature enhancement, and future codec acceleration with ML solution. In addition, the team will also work and interact with global video teams at UK, India, US, and Markham sites. Overall ownership of the architecture modeling team will cover architecture modeling deliverables spanning across new feature development including algorithmic / architecture / scalability modeling, HLS methodology, video quality enhancement, functional and validation test plan, test bench and regression in order to meet, deliver, and fulfill architecture exit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with domain and Sr. IP managers to scope, prepare, and finalize workplans for IP development
  • Manage global architecture modeling members among project plan, resource, execution, delivery, and HR matters
  • Manage and lead the team to work and contribute to the development of architecture modeling solution
  • Define and execute HLS methodology starting from architecture modelling to facilitate fast integration and easy handover to the ASIC design and implementation teams
  • Define next level of team leadership and growth plan. Recruit talented candidates to strength team capability and potentials
  • Work with the rest of global video managers in driving efficient interlocks among project plan, execution, and delivery strategy
  • Initiate and implement ML/Inference solutions within VCN IP
  • Manage and lead the team to drive the next 5% effort in achieving higher competitiveness and further raise VCN quality
  • Lead the team in examining modern design/verification methodology, and adaptation to achieve better performance, power and area objectives

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 10+ years of proven experience in managing ASIC IP design and development team
  • 15+ years of hands-on experience in HW architecture, ASIC design, HLS design and verification
  • Value added asset for candidates having proven experience and success in HLS design and verification
  • Must have proven video codec project management experience.
  • Prior exposure to Verilog design, synthesis, timing closure, PD, scripting, simulation, tests, DV tools, and coverage.
  • Strong leadership and management skills in leading an existing modeling, ASIC design/verification team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • An organized, and enthusiastic self-starter
  • Capable of managing and leading the team to work in a global environment.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering
