Summary

The Manager of Sales is responsible for all aspects of the Fabric and Rolls business in the MidSouth region. Duties include leading the MidSouth sales and service team to develop, maintain and execute a dynamic regional strategy aligned with the current goals for safety, orders, sales, profitability, and cash flow.

Safety – lead by example and set clear expectations for the regional team regarding adopting safe work practices and engaging in a safety focused mindset for themselves and others. This includes ensuring safety training and tasks are completed as required.

Orders – the sales team is primarily responsible for identifying and cultivating business opportunities and converting those opportunities to customer orders. Activities include managing a pipeline of new opportunities aligned with the regional strategy, but also include maintaining current business through inventory management and planning.

Sales – The Manager of Sales plays a key role in converting orders to sales by working closely with operations to prioritize orders based on customer needs, forecasting future fabric and roll orders and leading the sales team to ensure finished products are shipped promptly to the customer.

Profitability - The Manager of Sales has a direct impact on profit generation by managing discounts and incentivized offers to protect margin. The position also has important input in securing customer volume commitments, developing and maintaining agreements with customer mills and corporations, communicating price changes, managing selling costs in the region, etc.

Cash Flow – The main functions directly tied to cash flow include claim management, assisting with resolving accounts receivables past due and minimizing finished goods inventory.

The Manager of Sales position is a leadership position and is responsible for managing the sales and service team using the 3x2 Leadership Principles (Enable, Connect, Transform). In this role, development of individuals and the team are priorities.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable safety, order intake, sales conversion, profitability, and cash flow as described above.
  • Responsible for the development of a regional strategy, with buy-in from the team, regional coordination of the strategy implementation.
  • Manage the commercial aspect of opportunities by creating incentive offers, approving performance guarantees and determining any sales discounts applied. Analyze proposal wins and losses to improve the process forward.
  • Participate in or lead technical and commercial contract negotiations.
  • Manage a team of Sales Representatives and Technical Support Specialists for given region with development plans for the team members.
  • Promote technical and product knowledge within the sales team by arranging training classes as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key strategic customers in the region. Support the business by participating in periodic business review meetings with customers to promote Voith and to align resources with value-adding activities to the customer.
  • Responsible and accountable for adherence to all Voith Group and Voith Group Division directives as well as Voith compliance and policies.


Qualifications

  • Must have a B.S. degree in a relevant field or 5+ years of relative experience
  • Must have a proven history of leadership
  • Demonstrates expertise in product knowledge and application.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Must be highly organized and motivated
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, business acumen, organizational development skills, and the interpersonal skills necessary to operate in a team environment.
  • Must be able to obtain, track and analyze data to make fact-based decisions.
  • Must be willing to travel frequently by car and occasionally by air. Regular overnight hotel stays are part of this role.


Physical Demands

Must be able to physically perform the essential duties of the position which include regular sitting, standing, walking, talking and hearing. Some lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, use of hands may be required.
