About this role:
What is the future of the city? How might we make the spaces where we live, work, and learn smarter, more sustainable, more responsive? How can data and technology improve the human experience?
These are the questions we encounter every day here at The Digital Foundry at Carrier. As the new digital innovation studio in Carrier Global, the Foundry launches connected platforms and products that use data to solve big societal issues. Our cross-disciplinary team includes product managers, technologists, strategists, researchers, interaction designers, product designers, and software engineers – all passionate about the ability of technology to change the world for the better.
Designers at Carrier have a passion for built environments, an empathy for lived experiences, and an interest in connected solutions. We work on a range of complex digital innovation and strategic design projects critical to Carrier’s continued business growth.
The Associate Director of Design will partner with the studio leadership team and other design leaders to shape the future of the discipline at Carrier. • Produce and/or oversee creation of detailed design artifacts like user requirements specifications, personas, storyboards, scenarios, and information architecture.
  • Design and/or oversee design of digital interfaces and interaction patterns, including creating maps, dashboards and infographics that bring complex datasets to life.
  • Partner with researchers to design and field product-specific research to inform requirements – including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, etc.
  • Mentor and help push the outputs of design strategists, researchers, and product designers.
  • Collaborate with product teams to devise pragmatic design solutions.
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure that design specifications are implemented.
  • Represent design work and perspectives with C-level stakeholders at Carrier.
