We're searching for a Sr. Data Engineer, reporting to the Manager, Data Engineering who will help design and scale our data pipelines to help our engineers, operations team, marketing managers, data scientists and analysts make better decisions with data.
Responsibilities:
- Independently knows when and how to define, build and design complex data models and ensures that the data models scale appropriately.
- Identifies areas of the platform and development process that can be improved and works with BA’s/PM’s to define and break down the projects into bodies of work that can be worked on by multiple members of the team.
- Able to independently design and implement complex features.
- Consistently performs in code reviews, pair programming sessions and provides feedback that help improve the code, platforms, development process.
- Helps guide and mentor more Jr engineers on best practices, code style and improvements and the features of the platform. Often strategically breaks down projects and pairs with others to help them further their skills.
- Achieve expert level knowledge of the data platform and can deliver data pipelines independently, or while pairing and training others.
- Helps interview potential new members of the team.
- Able to identify the need for, define and execute test plans.
- Build, enhance, monitor, and maintain batch and streaming analytics data pipelines.
- Consistently explore new technologies and presents them to the team.
Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge ofcomputer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval, object-oriented programming.
- Advanced knowledge ofData Systems Fundamentals: streaming architectures, tools, and platforms, MPP data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake, or similar), datalakes, Batch Data Pipelines (Hadoop/Spark/Dask), relational database engines, SQL, dataframes.
- Has a Curiosity to understand how technologies work, their strengths/weaknesses and works to better understand new technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of Airflow or similar data pipeline tool, and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Great communicator who can explain technical concepts to product managers, support, and other engineers and describe ROI of projects.
- Advanced debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
