ABOUT THE SLP ROLE
  • Evaluating new patients.
  • Provides accurate diagnosis, appropriate referral and active follow-up of all patients seen for speech language services.
  • Determines appropriate assessment and/or intervention objective, based on available information.
  • Plans and implements appropriate treatment plans for all patients receiving therapy services, including family education and home-based intervention.
  • Completes all documentation and other assigned tasks within the time frames specified. Maintains clear, concise records of all services provided, as specified by Department and company policy.
  • Maintains clinical contact hour at an average level consistent with Department and company standards.
  • Maintains accurate and complete knowledge of CPT codes and ICD codes to ensure appropriate reimbursement from various payor sources.
  • Remains flexible and provides coverage as needed for patient care during times of illness or vacation for other team members.
  • Treating existing patients following the treatment plan prescribed.
  • Conducting Quality Assurance Checks on patients and the therapists you supervise (including student interns.) to ensure full satisfaction.
  • Discharging patients when treatment is fully complete.
  • Keeping chart notes and administration up-to-date with all relevant data included (per company guidelines/policies). Make sure all the therapists you supervise do the same.
  • Full supervision of any supervisees following licensing Board and ASHA requirements.
  • Participating in staff meetings and team meetings.
  • Keeping records of all the above functions in a way that there is record of all production.
  • Supervises at minimum 1 Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant and/or Clinical Fellow in accordance with SLPAB guidelines per department needs
  • Supervising your supervisees to help them optimize their treatments.
  • Develops and maintains an area of clinical specialty within the field of Speech-Language Pathology: Early Intervention, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Craniofacial Anomalies, Voice, Dysphagia, etc.
  • Provides an in-service training at least annually based on continuing education topics and recommends new program development based on innovative technology/techniques as appropriate.
  • Has knowledge of and is in compliance with the policies and procedures of the Department and company regarding record keeping, clinical goals and protocols, patient eligibility, patient scheduling, patient discharge, and quality assurance standards maintained by the Department, company, and all outside control agencies.
  • Represents company at meetings and outside presentations as requested by Director of Therapy Services.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

What the job requires:
  • SLP license by the state.
  • Must be a graduate of a SLP program with a minimum Master degree, in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program
  • Pass a background check..
  • Must be willing to work with other divisions of the organization on the prediction of schedules, referral development, and team cooperation to ensure a “whole child” approach to all therapies offered.
  • Must be ready to do life-changing work that will change your life as well!
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Must possess and maintain current CPR certification in accordance with State regulation(s);
  • Must Pass TB test
  • Conversational fluency in sign language or a second language, particularly Spanish, preferred but not required;
  • This position has a flexible schedule consisting of a minimum of 40 hours/week between the regular office hours which are from Monday-Friday 8am-8pm and Saturdays by appointment only.
