Established in 2006, the Davidson Academy is a secondary public school serving profoundly gifted students who are prepared to progress through a middle and/or high school curriculum in a rigorous academic setting. Located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno, the Academy is designated by Nevada legislation as a “university school for profoundly gifted pupils” (NRS Chapter 388C). Students are grouped by ability, not by age or grade. While the Academy is a public school, all students must score in the 99.9th percentile on nationally-normed intelligence and/or achievement tests. In addition to being profoundly gifted, some of our students are twice exceptional.

We are looking for a Special Education Teacher who will: be responsible for developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on current data. In addition, the Special Education Teacher will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering appropriate individualized educational services, learning programs and instruction for students with disabilities in consultation with other Davidson Academy teachers, administrators, and staff.

Some key competencies: self-motivation, high energy level, attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, decision making, stress tolerance, and flexibility.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay range of 50k-65k/year.
