DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities are essential functions, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the building principal or other administrator.

  • Tutor individual and small groups of students as directed by the teacher.
  • Facilitate student tasks in activity centers.
  • Read to children and listen to children read.
  • Assist in the preparation of AV, media and technology for instructional use.
  • Help supervise children in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in completing the clerical tasks of the classroom.
  • Respect the confidentiality of the students in all matters at all times.
  • Indoor & outdoor student supervision for playground/cafeteria.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the building principal.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

  • A high school diploma and any one of the following:
    • Associates degree or higher OR
    • Two years of college (48 credit hours) OR
    • ParaPro Assessment with a score of 460 OR
    • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential OR
    • Be willing to complete 10 modules in the online training platform Paraeducator within 2 months of employment at PTS (free training resources provided by PTS)

Essential Functions include but are not limited to: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required read, write, speak, and understand English above a high school level. The employee will need to work respectfully with children, move around the assigned school building, and manipulate materials utilized to remediate students.
