Hooker Furnishings Corporation (NASDAQ: HOFT), is currently recruiting for a showroom designer to work in our High Point, NC showroom. Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 98th year of business, is a designer, marketer, manufacturer, and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality and contract markets.
The Position:
We are looking for an experienced designer with excellent organization and time management skills to manage our High Point showroom including overall design, space planning, furniture layout, and construction. This position reports to the Vice President of Showroom Design, also based in High Point.
Main duties include:
  • Regular collaboration and face time with corporate and business unit leadership
  • Ongoing project management of High Point showroom projects as well as strategic corporate design pop-ups throughout the year
  • Sourcing, selection, and procurement of visual elements to be used in showroom.
  • Managing and maintaining visual prop inventory for showroom and photography purposes.
  • Managing relationships with multiple vendors.
  • Specification and procurement of finishes to be used in showroom.
  • Specification and placement of furniture to be used in showroom.
  • Using CAD to create furniture layouts.
  • Leading installations from beginning to end (design concept to market ready).
  • Occasionally managing temporary staff to assist with installations.
  • Maintaining all design team records electronically for team to access as needed.
Candidates that will be a great fit will:
  • Have a BA/BS degree in Interior Design or Architecture. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • Be able to travel occasionally overnight.
  • Have previous experience working in furniture showrooms.
  • Have previous Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and AutoCAD experience.
  • Possess the ability to anticipate problems and develop a plan of action to prevent delays.
  • Be detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.-this position is physical and requires the ability to be on your feet and physically move visual elements as needed.

Shift: This is a full-time day shift position with extended hours and weekends around market events.
