Job Summary

Performs daily lime product bagging and loading of products, and related bag production duties. Daily responsibilities include duties such operating bagging production equipment to bag lime product in 50 pound bags and other size bags; operating palletizing equipment to stack bags on pallets; operating fork lifts to position pallets of bags; operating a stretch wrapper to stretch wrap pallets; loading lime product into rail cars, pneumatic tank trailers, slurry trailers, and/or flatbed trailers; operating mobile equipment such as 18-wheel tractor-trailer, track mobile, and forklifts; operating bin load-out equipment, scale equipment, and scale computer to produce scale weight tickets.

Essential Functions

  • Operates bin load-out equipment to load bulk lime products.
  • Operates a variety of bagging production equipment to bag lime product in 50 lb bags and other size bags.
  • Operates palletizing equipment to stack bags on pallets.
  • Operates fork lifts to position pallets of bags according to instructions.
  • Operates stretch wrapper to stretch wrap pallets.
  • Uses a forklift to load bagged product in flatbed trailers.
  • Operates 18-wheel tractor-trailer units to move, load, and park truck trailers on plant property.
  • Operates scale equipment and ensures that loaded trailers and rail cars are loaded to the proper weight; operates scale computer and produces scale weight tickets.
  • Assist in rail car movement and loading processes.
  • Takes product samples and delivers to lab and completes sample labels and forms according to established procedures.
  • Seals tank loads and completes/processes related records according to established procedures.
  • Uses hand tools to perform housekeeping and clean-up duties.
  • Coordinates processes with truck drivers, lab and other personnel.
  • Completes forms and records according to established procedures.
  • Maintains equipment in proper operating order and writes work orders associated with that equipment.
  • Performs housekeeping and plant clean-up duties.
  • Performs all duties safely, taking all reasonable precautions to prevent personal injuries and property damage.
  • Complies with the Employee Handbook policies and guidelines.
  • Works co-operatively in a team with co-workers to continuously improve departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Participates in job and safety training as scheduled by the company.
  • Displays an attitude of helpfulness and co-operation to all contacts inside and outside the Company.
  • Attends training to improve technical, safety, and quality related skills.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • May operate track mobile and/or assist in movement and loading of rail cars.
  • May operate slurry mixer and load slurry into slurry trailers.
  • May operate a Bobcat loader and/or front end loader for area cleanup.
  • May operate bagging equipment, palletizer, stretch wrapper and other equipment to bag products.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Competency to effectively and efficiently operate all of the following equipment to complete loading tasks:
    • Bagging equipment
    • Palletizing equipment
    • Stretch wrapping equipment
    • Bin load-out
    • 18-wheel tractor-trailer
    • Track Mobile or Forklift
    • Scale equipment, scale computer and software
  • Minimum 3-month previous experience operating a fork lift.
  • Ability to complete all duties according to established procedures on a timely basis.
  • Ability to completes all forms and records according to established procedures and in a timely manner.
  • Basic math skills, including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and averaging.
  • Means of reliable contact.
  • Ability to work all assigned overtime and work schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as shovel and wheelbarrow to move material

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the Shipping Department and is exposed to dusty conditions including but not limited to; exposure to extreme heat due to lime production process, all weather conditions; noise conditions require precautionary measures; does extensive walking, climbing, lifting, bending and punching with poker, shoveling and sweeping.
