We are seeking an experienced Service Technician to travel to our important automotive client sites (mainly automotive plants) to service our machines in the field for one of Northern Michigan's employers of choice - Air Way Automation. Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Install new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications
  • Review performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives
  • Inspect malfunctioning or damaged equipment to determine nature and scope of problem
  • Analyze equipment to determine source of problem, and recommend repair, replacement or other corrective action
  • Coordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service and other personnel to expedite repairs

Secondary Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain service records and reports
  • Develop service handbooks and bulletins based on field investigations, engineering changes, and overall knowledge of product
  • Provide a communication link between the customer and the Company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer
  • Develop and conduct training on operation of the equipment and demonstrate skills to customers

Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and to make metric system conversions
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and manufacturing instructions
  • Knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and machine tools such as drill press, band saw, cut-off saw, and grinder
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry and pneumatics a plus
  • Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and the ability to work in high output environment
  • Ability to work independently or in team environments
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends when needed

Protective Clothing and Physical Demands

  • The incumbent will utilize safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, safety shoes while performing the functions of this position
  • While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, reach above shoulders, and use foot/feet for operation
  • The employee will adhere to all safety measures required by the customer's facility
