Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Prepares salads, sandwiches and desserts.
  • Ensures resident satisfaction by listening and responding to resident opinions and needs.
  • Completes menu order requests.
  • Maintains beverage, cold food, dessert, and salad supply.
  • Serves cold & hot menu items to residents and guests.
  • Maintains clean and orderly dining room, including table tops, legs, and chairs.
  • Makes sure salt and pepper shakers are filled and condiment area is neat, orderly, and properly stocked.
  • Washes and sanitizes all serving utensils thorough dish machine, transporting soiled pots & pans to main kitchen.
  • Maintains sanitation procedures/protocols at all times by practicing hygienic, food-handling techniques.
  • Follows proper storage guidelines.
  • Practices good personal grooming.
  • Maintains safe and adequate food temperatures.
  • Cleans workstation and equipment after use.
  • Follows all other aspects of proper sanitation.
  • Sets up server work stations as specified by station assignment.
  • Assists with meal service and kitchen staff on as needed basis.
  • Assists supervisor during operations, as needed.
  • Assists staff during operations as needed. Takes and delivers beverage orders from residents and servers in an accurate, friendly, responsible and timely manner.
  • Learns the names and personally recognizes residents who are regular patrons.
  • Processes resident charges.
  • Ensures sanitation by washing and sterilizing glassware.
  • Fills in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Culinary Department as directed by the certified dietary manager.
  • Attends all in-services as required.

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Ability to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of residents and guests.
  • Basic math skills and ability to operate a point of sales system.
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in dining or restaurant services preferred.
  • Understanding of hospitality, first impressions and customer focus and ability to provide exceptional service to residents and guests.
