We are looking for highly motivated professional to join our growing West/Civil Water Team, and our community of 500 engineers, consultants, and experts. This role can be based in San Francisco or Oakland. The ideal candidate possesses a broad range of technical skills in water resources, hydraulic/hydrology modeling, and/or process engineering, and has a consistent track record as project manager on small- to medium-sized projects or as technical lead on complex multidisciplinary projects. Our team works on a wide range of projects, including master plans, risk and resilience studies, and all aspects of engineering and design for a variety of water, stormwater, wastewater and recycled water facilities.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Independently performing complex hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, analyses, and calculations for water, wastewater, storm drainage, and water reuse projects.
  • Authoring reports suitable for issuance to private clients and members of the public.
  • Serving as project manager for small projects, including permitting and/or construction packages, including design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Serving as technical task lead or project manager for multiple concurrent water/wastewater projects, fulfilling all technical and/or commercial oversight responsibilities.
  • Assisting project managers with developing fee estimates, scope, staff resourcing plans, and scheduling.
  • Developing relationships with existing and prospective clients, collaborators, and stakeholders.
  • Delivering work in accordance with Arup’s quality standards, while adhering to each project’s scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Providing direction to junior team members on a range of technical tasks and assuming an active role in their career progression.
  • Independently conducting field investigations.
  • Preparing project proposals, change orders, and client communications.
  • Communicating technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences

Experience/ Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering
  • Advanced degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional Engineering License in the State of California
  • Proficiency with 3D design tools (e.g., Civil3D) and/or GIS (e.g., ArcGIS)
  • Strong fundamental understanding of hydraulic/hydrologic, water/wastewater treatment, and/or process design
  • Proficiency with one or more hydraulic modeling tools, including but not limited to InfoWorks ICM, SewerGEMS, HEC-RAS, and more
  • Understanding of local and regional water regulations, policies, and guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Hiring Range: The good faith base salary hiring range for this job performed in California is $96,500 and $130,000. Benefits are not included in the base salary range. Summary of benefits are included in this posting with details provided to applicants at the time of interview. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of California will differ.
