Section 1. Position Purpose

Responsible for the installation, testing, alignment, repair and proper operation of all surveillance equipment relating to the gaming enterprise. Responsible for maintaining network, servers and computers for the surveillance department.

Section 2. Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements

  • Minimum AAS degree in Network Administration or Computer Science or related field or 2 years work experience in related field such as Surveillance Technician or Service Desk Technician
  • An in depth knowledge of networking preferred
  • Proven ability in network design and maintenance preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with and supporting desktop operating systems or applications within a networking environment required
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn other applications to supplement the support side of the position
  • Must be able to obtain a Grand Casino Lift Certification
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze technical information and regulations and apply this information to current regulatory practices required
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills required
  • Strong personal computer skills in a Windows environment, including spreadsheet and word applications required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Excellent observational skills required
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Employees must be of high moral character
  • Must pass pre-employment skills testing and interview
  • Avigilon certified installer preferred
  • Power Limited License through the Minnesota Department of Electricity preferred
  • Experience in gaming surveillance preferred

Section 3. Decision Making and Problem Solving

  • Information gathering and analysis is required, internal guidelines and policies frame the decision making process but a moderate use of judgment is required
  • Impact is critical and long-term or lasting. It affects the operations of the entire Band and or Band government

Typical decisions and problems include:

  • Immediate technical troubleshooting
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Section 4. Authority and Responsibility

Essential Duties include:

  • Installs and maintains all closed circuit television cameras, recording equipment, expansion equipment, and related wiring on property
  • Repairs damaged or malfunctioning equipment
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all the rules and regulations of Regulatory Agencies, ensures strict adherence to same throughout the property
  • Routinely inspects all supported equipment on property, identifying potential problems and performing necessary repairs; performs regular preventative maintenance on all supported equipment
  • Performs light housekeeping duties in the Surveillance department, ensuring a clean, neat and orderly work area and a dust-free environment in the server room and office areas is achieved and maintained
  • Installs and maintains Windows-based hardware and assists with the installation of multi-user applications on a network operating system, maintaining data integrity and system quality
  • Assists in the maintenance of applications on the network operating system
  • Installs, connects, disconnects, repairs, updates and moves servers as necessary
  • Adheres to standards of security, system integrity and confidentiality within the department
  • Keep up-to-date on trends and changing technologies as they relate to the Surveillance department
  • Ensures that the appropriate inventory of equipment and supplies is kept on hand at all times, and notifies management as needed
  • Consults with management and vendors on specific types of equipment needed for certain surveillance operations
  • Keeps surveillance technical manager informed of any equipment malfunctions, project status reports and other pertinent information
  • Facilitates the flow of information throughout the department, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings
  • Held accountable for the accuracy of thoroughness of departmental records and reports
  • Prepares temporary surveillance coverage as needed
  • Required to participate in on-call rotation
  • Other duties as assigned

Section 5. Interpersonal Relations and Contacts

  • Exchange of detailed factual information followed by a discussion or questions to reach full understanding necessary to make a decision or define a course of action
  • Similar objectives and outcomes are desired, but means to achieve those outcomes may differ. Compromise and concessions may be needed and the need to bring modest understanding or knowledge differences may require greater communication skills.

Section 6. Working Conditions

  • Hours vary based on shift assignment, signification variations and additional hours may occur to complete responsibilities of the position
  • Nature of work is such that some periods of moderate stress may be experienced. Primary sources of stress deal with the workload, deadlines and on-call hours
  • Work is primarily indoors in a controlled climate, but includes a modest amount of outdoor work. Personal safety risks are moderate.
  • Local travel is required
  • Travel between Hinckley and Mille Lacs properties is required
  • Travel outside the state may be required for training

7. Special Considerations

  • Must have a Valid driver’s license
  • Must have reliable personal transportation
  • Must have proof of current insurance coverage and insurability under the Band’s Auto Insurance Policy
  • Must be able to obtain a Mille Lacs Band Class A gaming license
  • Must be able to pass a company pre-employment drug and alcohol test
