Senior Quality Engineer Job at Calix

This is a remote position that could be based anywhere in the United States.

Calix is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team. A Quality Engineer is someone who prevents, actively monitors and predicts communications system Quality. Quality Engineers design, implement, and maintain processes that ensure development, NPI (New Product Introduction) requirements transfers and pre-pilot verification success.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Develop module, card and system level reliability models.
Identify design process improvements, and provide supporting information for change, including reasons and justifications.
Participate in design, verification, pilot and pre-volume production readiness reviews.
Ensures compliance with Calix requirements, industry best practices and relevant ISO 9001 / TL 9000 requirements.
Review field concerns and return data for statistically significant process changes or trends.
Quantify the value of repair services and failure analysis to new product designs.
Provide analytical services resulting in early predictive insights.
Identify design issues, validate root causes and follow-up to ensure corrective action effectiveness.
Drive best practices in the SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) process
Applies basic risk management principles to all activities while investigating non-conformances.

Qualifications:
Calix requires all employees based in North America who will work onsite at a Calix office, attend in-person meetings, and/or travel on behalf of Calix to be fully vaccinated. Calix will consider requests for reasonable accommodations as required under applicable law.
BS degree in Math, Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 7 years-experience.
Expert in MTBF, MTTR, MTTF and FIT calculations.
SPC (Statistical Process Control) for detecting manufacturing process or return rate trend changes.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and TL9000.
Contribute to an innovative and creative culture.
Review system communications system Quality requirements, designs and system architectures.
Understand component, card / module and system level specifications.
Strong problem-solving, quantitative, and analytical abilities; Solution-oriented.
Adaptable and capable of working in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the Telecommunications industry technology, markets and networking specifically broadband access networks.
Understanding of MTBF, MTTR, MTTF and FIT calculations.
System level reliability modeling.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Reliability or Manager / Organizational Excellence.
Hardware and embedded software development life cycles.
