Make a difference
This position will participate in the daily operations of the Public Health Laboratories (PHL) Quality Assurance and Safety programs. You will assist the Quality and Safety departments with projects and the implementation of programs resulting from those projects. Areas of focus will include personnel documentation, developing training content in various areas, SharePoint design, and updating procedures and documents. This position will assist the quality and safety teams to meet program and compliance expectations, compile data for metrics and trend tracking, and assist with clear communication of policies and procedures to the laboratory staff.

The PHL provides diagnostic and analytical services for the assessment and surveillance of infectious, communicable, genetic, and chronic diseases and environmental health concerns. Primary clients of PHL services include preventive medicine programs at the state, county, and federal levels, hospitals, public health, and medical laboratories seeking reference or consultation services, and physicians seeking assistance in diagnosing rare or unusual diseases.
This project position is currently funded through July 31, 2024.

Required Qualifications
Option 1: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Microbiology.
Option 2: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Biology, or another basic medical science, WHICH INCLUDES 20 or more semester hours or quarter hours equivalent in microbiology, or a subject related to the study of microorganisms.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in laboratory quality assurance practices.
  • Experience with developing and writing laboratory documents and procedures.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and other Microsoft D365 applications
  • Knowledge of standard office software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
