ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Marine Division of Carrier Corporation has supplied the international maritime and offshore industries for decades. By coordinating our activities under one Marine umbrella, we can utilize our latest technology and offer a wide portfolio of marine solutions, services, and expertise to ship builders, owners, and operators worldwide. Carrier Marine and Offshore Systems is responsible for providing air conditioning products and systems for cruise ships to fishing boats and offshore drilling platforms, to oil tankers. We seek a customer-facing Sr. Project Engineer to support our Marine team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee multiple project simultaneously. Develop project plans and budgets. Monitor performance.
  • Identify and react to project problems and recommend solutions.
  • Pursue cost savings opportunities to maximize project profitability.
  • Design custom equipment and components for Marine projects.
  • Perform analysis and calculations.
  • Apply knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration design, heat transfer, fan systems and electronic control systems.
  • Directly communicate with external customers and provide technical support.
  • Support customer/marine dealers for all Carrier products.
  • Interface with Manufacturing personnel to ensure design/build meets customers’ requirements
  • Interface with internal groups and Carrier factories to resolve technical and scheduling issues.
  • Effectively present findings and correction actions to customers.
  • Mentor junior level Project Engineers; provide guidance and support.
TYPICAL EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or similar Engineering field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • MS degree in a Mechanical, Electrical, or similar Engineering field with 3 + years of relevant experience.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Solid knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration design, heat transfer, fan systems and electronic control systems
  • Experience with Carrier residential/commercial, or industrial HVAC components, products, systems and controls is desirable.
  • Experience leading project teams or multiple small to mid-sized projects.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve HVAC system problems, electronic controls function in HVAC equipment, refrigeration, compression is desired.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to learn quickly, and work independently under minimal direction.
  • Must be able to prioritize work to meet customer needs.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong follow-up and follow-through skills in order to meet project deadlines and satisfy customer needs.
  • Strong communication skills and technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with E-CAT, Carwin, SAP, Quotebuilder, AutoCad is a plus.
