BWX Technologies, Inc. is looking for a remote Senior Program Manager!


The Sr. Program Manager will lead projects and programs within the project management organization in BWXT Medical, which is engaged in both the upgrade of our facilities, as well as new product development and tech transfers enabling the contract manufacturing of innovator products.


The Sr. Program Manager will have direct reporting relationship to the VP of Strategic Services, BWXT Medical and will oversee the mentorship of Program Managers, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Project Controls Lead and Project Scheduling and Controls Specialists as well as Contractors as required.


Responsibilities and Duties:

Internal

  • Effectively document scope, estimate cost, and create a detailed schedule for large, complex, cross-functional projects and programs
  • Ensure effective, nimble controls are in place and manage risks, issues, changes, decisions, cost, resources, and schedule; connect short-term demands to long-term implications, in alignment with the supporting business case
  • Work with functional managers and individual contributors to gather data for resource planning and human performance.
  • Present and report on the project management function, issues, solutions, improvements and resource needs. Report on customer scorecard feedback for projects and develop plans and actions for improvement in cooperation with the functional units.
  • Work with the Senior Leadership team to develop approaches and processes to effectively improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Participate in and support overall operational business monitoring and planning (e.g., resources, sales, margins, forecasting, revenue recognition, CAPEX).
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to processes and policy requirements.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to identify growth opportunities and formulate strategic recommendations.
  • Support recovery of escalations and project performance to align with project commitments.
  • Monitor and control the companies project portfolio, indicate and resolve issues early.

External

  • Assistance as required in communication of significant issues and risks to customers at more senior level.
  • React to customer escalation requests, including negotiation of solutions, facilitation and issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with management levels of customer organizations.
  • Take responsibility for communicating VoC feedback and coordinating responses and actions to customer scorecards.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in a relevant field.
  • PMP certification and/or PEO license.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ successful Project Management experience
  • Short term travel (up to 40%) may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients and stakeholders.
  • Desired Characteristics:

    • Proven leadership skills; ability to influence without authority
    • Excellent communication skills; ability to tailor communication with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership
    • Demonstrated ability project planning and execution, including development of procedures and process improvements.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Project, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Resource and financial management experience.
    • Experience managing projects or programs in one or more of the following areas is a plus: pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharmaceutical product development, pharmaceutical facility construction
    • Experience with external customer and/or supplier negotiations and/or supplier relationship is a plus
    • Experience in the nuclear industry is considered an asset but not required.
