Position Overview

Kohana Coffee seeks a self-motivated, results-oriented leader with a proven record of building strong supplier relationships, managing projects from concept to completion, and demonstrating exceptional communication skills. Primary responsibilities fall into three main categories: supply chain management and negotiations for various commodities, development and maintenance of suppliers, and management of strategic contracts that include emphasis on quality, continuous improvement, and service.

The Senior Procurement Manager must possess superior understanding of business financials, fiscal KPIs, and the link between profitability and procurement strategies. Using strong communication and interpersonal capabilities, you interact effectively with the corporate finance team, manufacturing operations, and other internal stakeholders for a $1B, publicly traded beverage company. You report to the Plant Manager with a dotted line into the corporate supply chain executive.

Position Location and Salary

This position is located in Richmond, California in the East Bay area of San Francisco. The salary range for the Senior Procurement Manager is $100,000 to $140,000 annually; our initial salary target falls in the range of $100,000 to $115,000 per year.

Primary Responsibilities

· Perform full range of supply chain management activities, including negotiating terms and conditions, expediting and tracking of urgent deliveries, checking of received items, and other related work.

· Develop sourcing category management plans that analyze and calculate costs of procurement and use those category management plans to drive multi-year procurement plans and events to maintain flat to down raw material costs in inflationary environments.

· Identify, source, and assess potential trustworthy suppliers by development of a system to evaluate suppliers to ensure quality, price, delivery, compliance, and service.

· Create and utilize multi-step sourcing processes that drive ‘Best Value’ relationships with suppliers, and teach the processes to the Global Sourcing team to ensure Continuous Improvement in the supply chain.

· Work to minimize packaging waste, introduce higher quality/lower cost packaging options, and coordinate with the product development team on the future of Rigid packaging, partnering on innovation and use of new technologies.

· Negotiate and execute contracts and purchase orders, issue RFI/RFP’s, analyze proposals and supplier agreements for legal ramifications and appropriate item pricing and acceptability.

· Interface and align with Global Sourcing Quality Assurance team to ensure internal and customer specifications and standards are met consistently by suppliers.

· Collaborate with the Plant Manager, Plant Controller, and others to optimize working capital productivity through a strategic approach to procurement activities.

Minimum Required Qualifications

· Eight (8) or more years’ experience procuring ingredients and/or packaging in the food or beverage manufacturing industry, or comparable work experience.

· Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a comparable subject required, CPSM or CPIM certification a plus.

· Excellent communication skills – written and verbal – and good emotional intelligence, interacting effectively with external suppliers, people at all levels of the organization, and other stakeholders in a collaborative, team-oriented manner.

· Proven success managing a diverse set of external suppliers - including sourcing, negotiations, contract and risk management, and forecasting, combined with good experience developing category strategies, nurturing manufacturing relationships, and contributing to global procurement strategies and plans.

· Possess a continuous improvement and growth mindset with demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment.

· Advanced computer proficiency with MS Office suite and NetSuite or other ERP system experience.
