Solomon provides data-driven, strategic insight across the energy industry, leading to greater efficiency, reliability, and profitability.Basic FunctionThe Senior Data Analyst is responsible for providing efficient handling and meaningful analysis of large amounts of confidential client data, generating customer reporting, and performing data analysis and results interpretation. The candidate will assist in improving analysis methodologies and participate in the preparation of benchmarking and other studies by contributing to study design and report writing. In addition, the Senior Data Analyst will assess and apply source information related to operating costs, production efficiency, and technical data by analyzing operational performance and identifying performance gaps and improvement opportunities. This roll will also assist clients in data preparation, identify client best practices, and provide study results interpretation.Responsibilities
  • Client data mapping and business rules development
    • Understands, maps, and restates client data from raw formats to Solomon categories and characterization
    • Builds data collection rules to manage data transformation in support of benchmarking studies and data collection engines
  • Data cleansing and quality
    • Data cleansing and quality
    • Reviews client data for missing data, out of range data and contradictory data across accounting, HR, plant/field production
    • Applies industry knowledge to identify and cleanse bad and inaccurate data.
  • Initial data analysis for studies
    • Analyzes the client cleansed data using various data analysis tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) and industry knowledge to create notes for the consultants on the performance of the client’s assets and issues that they faced
  • Data analysis for client engagements
    • Supports client consulting engagements by providing subject matter expertise and data analysis, identifying operational, and business issues related to the engagement
  • Data analysis for project and follow-on work
    • Creates custom peer groups for Special Data Requests (SDR), creates charts and tables to support projects and follow-up analysis from the benchmarking and consulting engagements
  • Data analysis for research/white papers
    • Uses data analysis tools and statistics to review Solomon’s client data from across multiple regions, assets and over time to support research for white papers
    • Provides appropriate datasets to consultants for deeper details and analysis by SME

WE EXPECT

Education
  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, Finance or related degrees
Work Experience
  • Required:
    • 4+ years of experience in energy sector data analysis
    • Familiar with data systems used in the oil and gas sector
    • Experience in statistical modeling is a plus
    • Experience organizing structuring data for analysis in Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, and other analytical tools
    • Experience extracting and transforming data from Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft® Access, or other data systems
    • Advanced data and economics analysis
Technical Skills
  • Required:
    • Data Analytics Tools – Proficiency with data analytics and tools such as Python, Excel, VBA, BI tools, etc.
    • Communication Skills—Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including excellent verbal, written, listening, and presentation skills
    • Team Collaboration—Excellent people skills and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
    • Detail Oriented—Reviews work quality and anomalies in results
    • Workload Planning—Demonstrates ability to self-manage, set schedules, and prioritize work appropriately
    • Continuous Improvement— Proven track record of continuous improvement and creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful
    • Industry Knowledge—Strong understanding of the oil, gas, energy industry segment supported with a general understanding of accounting, timekeeping, and business data tracking
    • Interpersonal Skills—Demonstrated ability to develop and grow strong work relationships
    • Microsoft Office Products—Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel®, and PowerPoint®
Other
  • This position would be based in Solomon’s Dallas, Houston, United Kingdom offices. Remote US and Canada locations will also be considered.
