Summary:

Responsible for originating and structuring asset-based loans that meet or exceed customer needs and expectations, as well as credit and regulatory requirements, and the bank’s policies and procedures. Serves as the point person in determining the customer's needs and meeting them through the seamless delivery and execution of the bank's products, services and associated resources. Also responsible for maintaining relationships with referral sources and centers of influence to attract new business and retain current clients. Will be assigned a minimum sales goal commensurate with job level and market coverage responsibilities. Works with the most sophisticated customers and on the most complex deal structures. Can mentor more junior Business Developers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and structure new and profitable asset-based loans in order to meet assigned goals. Identify both new customer prospects and cross-selling opportunities within current customer base. Maintain a target prospective customer list and continuously follow up on transaction leads.
  • Structure credit solutions for existing and potential customers; advocate customer/prospect position in credit approval process. Works with the most complex deal structures.
  • Assist underwriters in completing a thorough credit analysis and preparing preview memos that focus on the prospect's credit worthiness, identification or risks and mitigates, deal structure, etc. Also assist in the closing process when needed.
  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of customer's financial condition and needs. Prescreen transactions to management and Credit partners.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of asset based and banking products, services and capabilities. Prepare pitch book materials and review engagement papers (term sheets, fee letters and commitment letters.
  • Provide guidance and direction to bank’s internal support personnel to ensure proper and accurate completion of loan transactions and day to day operational requirements.
  • Keep management fully informed on all key factors of the bank, the portfolio, client relationships, and the competitive environment.
  • Mentors more junior Business Development Officers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics or equivalent work experience
  • 8 - 12 years of asset-based lending sales and structuring experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in negotiating, structuring, and closing complex asset-based loan transactions.
  • Strong analytical, credit and decision making skills.
  • A high level of interpersonal and sales skills are necessary to compete effectively, present proposals to client, and recommend loan transactions to bank senior management.
  • Thorough knowledge of various software programs including Word and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn additional systems/software.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced working environment.
