Secondary Coordinator of Out of School Time Program

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Coordinator of Out of School Time (OST) Program is directly responsible for the oversight of programs and operations for on-site at their school. The primary focus will be the coordination of program development and implementation; staff development, and budget management for the before and after-school program. We operate after-school programs until 6:00 pm including early release days, some vacation weeks, and summer. It is our mission to provide high-quality, affordable, Out of School Time Care to Framingham children in order to deliver Framingham Public Schools’ high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools.

Through a collaborative effort with school staff and the community, the Coordinator’s role is to provide high-quality before/after school program experience to students that complement the education they receive in the classroom. With a strong focus on project-based learning, the program supports students by building and improving skill sets useful both today and tomorrow. The coordinator’s responsibility is to create a fun, engaging, and highly academic environment where students are expected to meet the same standards and encouraged to find their own path to achieving them. Through new and innovative strategies like STEM, Service Learning, Entrepreneurial programming, or Socio-emotional-based clubs we work to create students better prepared for college and beyond.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant background or in pursuit of one, masters degree preferred.

A valid Driver's License is required.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Three (3) minimum years of experience in working with school-age children in a supervisory role. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with a degree in Education or related field. Bilingual Portuguese or Spanish skills preferred.

  • Bilingual candidate strongly preferred.
  • Three years or more experience coordinating After-School programming with students from diverse cultural/ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to supervise and support a team of up to ten staff members and additional community partners.
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate daily activities including student attendance, tuition collection and management, and parent communication
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills to collaborate with school-day teachers, school staff, parents/guardians, the community, institutions of higher education, business leaders, and administrative staff.
  • Strong program planning skills to ensure educational frameworks are embedded in enrichment activities
  • Sensitivity to and/or experience in working with children and adults from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Demonstrated experience with working with youths and the establishment of strong rapport with youths.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer use and appropriate applications, including MS Office and databases.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong ability to maintain the confidentiality of information.
  • Flexible, timely, ability to multi-task, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct a comprehensive secondary education program aimed at preparing every student for success.
  • Ability to lead improvement efforts toward identified instructional targets by motivating and mentoring building-level administrators and facilitating systemic change strategies, with an emphasis on progressive educational practices.
  • Commitment to equity in educational opportunities for students and leadership opportunities for staff, especially with regard to members of traditionally underserved and underrepresented groups.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction, program evaluation, leadership development, school improvement, budget management, and data analysis. Demonstrated knowledge of state/federal regulations and accreditation requirements governing public education programs.

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate overall programs, services, and activities to ensure they meet state objectives and the needs and interests of students.
  • Manage program budget.
  • Hire and supervise staff.
  • Ensure and enforce compliance with district policies and procedures for all staff.
  • Manage and provide staff development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Ensure a productive work environment at all sites.
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders, and organizations.
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned by Supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a twelve (12) month position. Covered under Framingham School Committee Policy.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
