Job Description:

Primary duty is to set up and adjust packaging machines for seasoning and salt application while ensuring and maintaining product quality. This includes staging seasoning and salt, filling hoppers and monitoring quality of product through salt tests, inspection and scheduled quality assurance checks.

Major Job Duties:

1) Assure that the seasoning system (hoppers, scales, feeders, barrels etc.) are running at proper quality specifications.

2) Setup, complete changeovers, shut down and/or drain the seasoning system according to the production schedule.

3) Perform a variety of maintenance and minor repair work to keep the seasoning equipment running.

4) Report problems that cannot be repaired in 10 minutes to the supervisor immediately.

5) Work closely with PMO’s and other Seasoning Operator(s), especially during changeovers and when issues arise. Provide assistance needed to maintain production needs.

6) Keep a log for each machine, recording all machine downtime.

7) Do all possible to minimize downtime and material waste.

8) Perform all quality checks and record data as required.

9) Maintain continuous monitoring of seasoning application systems.

10) Maintain a clean workspace on the seasoning mezzanine ensuring no hoses are on ground, trash laying around or miscellaneous items.

11) Follow all plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

12) Perform any other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications: Seasoning Operator must have mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills with ability to read and follow the schedule and set and run seasoning equipment accordingly. Experience working on packaging machinery and manufacturing environment or working experience with form, fill and seal machinery is a plus. Must be a team player.

1) Ability to operate and maintain seasoning systems with limited down time to company specifications.

2) Able to make minor repairs and/or adjustments quickly and safely.

3) Able to clearly explain problems or at least explain the symptoms to co-operators and/or maintenance personnel or supervisor(s).

4) Ability to function in a fast paced environment.

5) Maneuver around machinery 100% of the workday.

6) Climb ladders/stairs as needed throughout the day.

7) Lift heavy, even or uneven loads weighing up to 64 pounds.

8) Bend or squat 25-50% of the workday.

9) Work in awkward or tight work areas.

10) Maneuver cautiously on slippery floors surfaces.

11) Work on elevated platforms.

12) Work in hot, humid, cold, noisy, wet and odorous environment.

13) Use hands and arms outstretched from body or overhead.

14) Hear and communicate respectfully with others in noise, to insure quality and safety.

15) Successfully completes the safety training and adheres to the requirements.

16) Work up to 40 hours per week or more if needed.

17) Must have dependable attendance.

18) Must be willing and able to work as a team.

19) Work safely with and trouble-shoot moving machinery.

20) Maintain authorization to operate lift trucks.
