The Health, and Safety Specialist and is responsible for providing leadership/support for EHS systems, programs, and waste optimization for the Neenah Cold Spring Facility to achieve Kimberly-Clark Corporate objectives and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Work collaboratively with Supply Chain Safety & Sustainability leaders and NCSF EHS Manager to identify and lead EHS initiatives that deliver continuous improvement. The incumbent serves as the facility point of contact for safety, environmental, hazardous waste, chemical safety, and associated regulatory issues and is responsible for recommending appropriate control procedures, monitoring the plant pollution control equipment and facility to identify areas of concern, recommending corrective measures, and assisting in EHS education and training of employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide support for safety initiatives that achieve site safety objectives and result in an improvement in the site safety performance in the short term while building the basis for ongoing, continuous improvement

  • Provide management and leadership in environmental loss prevention. This requires participation in efforts to reach objectives of safety, quality, customer service and includes managing a process for continuous feedback and system assessment

  • Create and foster programs that lead to the creation of a culture where protecting the environment is recognized as a value and employees are motivated to develop and to use work practices that are beneficial to the facility’s operation and the environment

  • Provide site leadership for all facility environmental activities, including obtaining air permits, preparing and submitting mandatory government documentation and reports, managing hazardous materials and hazardous waste disposal streams, reviewing and approving new chemical uses in the plant, developing and maintaining a comprehensive chemical spill and release plan consistent with Plant and community emergency response organizations, and coordinating mandatory environmental training requirements for Plant personnel.

  • Manage and optimize facility waste streams to deliver additional revenue for the facility. Identify new opportunities that will maximize revenue and continue to eliminate waste sent to landfill

  • Ensure site compliance with OSHA, EPA, WI-DNR, and other federal and state-mandated safety and environmental regulations. Consensus standards include ANSI, NFPA, and others

  • Identify, evaluate, and coordinate the implementation of new methods and approaches to accelerate safety and environmental improvement at the Neenah Cold Spring Facility

  • Promote and enhance the mill’s World Class Manufacturing Philosophy of being the best, the fastest, and the lowest cost producer of a product or service

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Safety & Health / Environmental, or Equivalent and/or equivalent education and experience

  • Five or more years of manufacturing experience in an environmental, health, and safety role

  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements of OSHA, EPA, WI-DNR, and other federal and state-mandated safety and environmental regulations. Consensus standards include ANSI, NFPA, and others.

  • Demonstrated management and leadership experience

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills
