The Cedar Grove family of companies is looking for a Safety Manager to join our awesome leadership team. This person is responsible for the administration and development of all safety programs and to ensure compliance with company regulations, federal, state and local regulatory agencies and national guidelines. Our ideal candidate is passionate about safety and is ready to have boots on the ground to build rapport with our team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards
  • Identify and mitigate workplace and job specific hazards; Change and add policies and procedures as needed.
  • Investigate/record incidents, accidents, spill response, complaints and workplace injuries.
  • Work with insurance team on claims and adjustments for vehicle and property claims.
  • Undertaking risk assessments and performing regular site inspections.
  • Maintaining internal health and safety training records showing proper adherence to rules and use of industry recognized best practices relating to safety and health.
  • Compiling statistics and writing reports for management.
  • Present safety stats monthly to operations and leadership teams.
  • Facilitate regular health and safety meetings and training courses for employees according to annual schedule created by you.
  • Conduct annual training and recertifications for forklifts and manlifts in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Represent the Company well in all interactions
  • Keep up to date with changing laws and standards to ensure company is in compliance
  • Administers and maintains programs including but not limited to: DOT compliance, Workers Compensation, Drug and Alcohol Testing, Facility Inspections, etc.
  • Serves as company’s risk manager and point of contact for insurance regarding property, liability, equipment, auto fleet, and machinery policies.
  • Oversees and handles all property and casualty claims.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Safely drive company vehicle between locations regularly.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent skills in written and oral communication and the skill to speak to groups, committees and other entities regarding company transportation programs and data.
  • Ability to deal with individuals or groups in critical situations in an effective manner.
  • Working knowledge of principals, practices and methods of environmental health and safety required.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment performing multiple tasks with accuracy.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to track departmental goals and budgetary items.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency using MS Office Suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to sit at a desk for four or more hours per day, stand, bend, stoop, walk, or climb ladders for 4 or more hours per day when out in the field and occasionally lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
