The Rotational Student Program (RSP) at EPRI is run through the Electrification & Sustainable Energy Strategy group providing a comprehensive, multi-semester rotational program that introduces students to the dynamic world of energy research and development. The program fosters critical thinking, open communication, innovation, and corporate social responsibility. RSP participants are challenged to expand their knowledge in engineering, business, safety, climate, and sustainability while cultivating your personal and professional leadership style.

Rotational assignments can be in-person or remote, with remote employees have the option to spend the summer rotation at one of the following EPRI facilities: Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; Dublin, IR; Knoxville, TN; Palo Alto, CA; and/or Washington, DC (note, EPRI will not provide compensation beyond salary (i.e., no housing stipend) should a remote student elect to do an in-person summer rotation). Rotational assignments could include:

  • Endangered and Protected Species
  • Energy Systems and Climate Analysis

  • Electrification Technologies
  • Occupational Health & Safety

Along with providing opportunities to advance technical research that will make a business impact, EPRI is committed to providing RSP participants with a strong support network which will include consistent engagement with cohort peers, a program manager for coaching throughout the program, and a technical mentor for each rotation. RSP participants will be provided the opportunity to travel for initial onboarding in Charlotte and to the Institute’s Fall Advisory Meeting where they will get to interact face to face with member company advisors. RSP participants will also gain exposure to leaders at all levels.

Education:

Students should be registered full-time at an accredited organization. Students may be eligible to receive course credit upon approval by their educational institution.

Open to students at the Undergraduate and Masters level pursuing a wide range of degrees including, but not limited to:
  • Biology
  • Business Administration
  • Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering
  • Ecology
  • Environmental Policy
  • Environmental Science
  • Sustainability Management

The following is also preferred of interested candidates:
  • An interest in the intersection between the power industry, safety, sustainability, decarbonization, and customer technologies
  • A willingness to learn with a questioning attitude
  • Experience in supporting research activities and/or relative work experience applicable to supporting climate resilience and adaptation research
  • Ability to form and maintain productive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, supporting coalitions of cross-EPRI experts to support project execution
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly, succinctly, and in a manner that appeals to a wide audience
  • Ability to exercise judgment, diligence, and attention to detail and demonstrates an aptitude for carrying out assignments
  • Curiosity and attention-to-detail balanced by focus on task-oriented goal completion
  • Experience working on multiple projects concurrently
  • A positive attitude, always committed to success and being a part of a collaborative team of business and technical professionals.
